“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect”

                                   Romans 12:2

The Youth program is committed to providing opportunities for all young people to connect with each other, to grow in their spiritual journey, to serve others through mission, and to participate in meaningful worship.  Youth are encouraged and challenged to grow within themselves, in their relationships with others, and in their relationship with God.

Opportunities to Get Involved

Weekly Gatherings
LOPC provides weekly gatherings (Wed 6-8 p.m. for Middle School YOW, Sunday 6-8 p.m. for High School Fellowship) and Sunday morning Sunday School for middle schoolers, programs to provide opportunities for youth to dig deeper into their faith with committed small groups (D-Groups), the SPLASH student leadership team, and the Confirmation program (open to all high school students).

Students also can participate in the Mission Possible Youth Advocacy Group

Of course, there are always fun activities with Nights Out and Service Projects.

Retreats

Retreats happen throughout the year and include weekends of house-boating, skiing, fall and spring LOG (Love of God) retreats, and more.

The youth summer mission programs are a great opportunity to spend a week serving others while growing in amazing ways. Every summer, the Middle School youth build houses for a families in need in Mexico. The High School youth participate in a mission at a different location every summer, with an international mission every four years. In the Summer 2008 we are traveling to Miami through the Door Ministries to help with inner city mission work. Other recent missions have included traveling to New Orleans and working with the School of Urban Missions to assist in reconstruction work, working with programs in Guatemala, in inner-city Atlanta and serving on the Yakima Native American Reservation in Eastern Washington State.

Fellowship Activities
We have many ways for youth to connect with each other and adults in the church. We have attended Boomers, Great America, Baseball games (Giants and Oakland A's), Q-Zar, overnighters, and many other ways to connect.
